In balancing, different senses are exercised at the same time, and balancing backwards in particular requires a lot of concentration.

Instructions

In this exercise, children balance along a rope. It is best to take your shoes off for this. A skipping rope, for example, is suitable for balancing.

"Extend your arms and balance on the rope, leg to leg, forward all the way and then back, back."

Variants

  • balance with arms outstretched

  • balance with eyes closed

  • holding a ball in front of and/or overhead at the same time

  • balancing a ball on the palm at the same time

Tips
Many children with coordination problems find it difficult to walk backwards. Such a simple exercise can also be used to identify possible support needs.
