Memory items [3]

Short description

Looking at objects, remembering and reproducing them from memory

Category

CognitionMemory / Retention

Group size

SOLO PAIRS SMALL GROUPS CLASS

Materials

Various objects from everyday life

Duration

10 minutes

Level

3️⃣

The aim of this exercise is to improve

  • the activation of short-term memory

  • Visual perception

  • concentration

  • spatial orientation

  • linguistic accuracy in naming.

The children must focus on memorising things. The spatial orientation helps them as a cognitive anchor to recall things from memory.

Instructions

Various objects are clearly visible on a table. The children now have 60 seconds to memorise them. Then the teacher collects all the objects.

Now the children take turns to name one object each, which is then placed exactly in the same place on the table as it was before.

At the end, the table should look the same as it did at the beginning of the exercise, no item should be missing.

Tips
The more distinctive the objects are, the easier it is, the more similar they are to one another and the more everyday, the more difficult the “memory” will be.
