Duration

Goal of this exercise is improving

  • children's linguistic receptiveness,

  • accuracy/speed in visual perception

  • strategies to promote memory skills

Children realise that perceiving particular features or limiting an observation to a single feature, supported by concise language, makes it easier to remember.

Instructions

The game is played in teams of 2 to max. 5 children.

The teacher shows one team an object or a picture card very briefly - and hidden for the other children. This object or picture is now to be quickly expressed by "just one word".

The children have to identify and name a particularly striking feature of the object or picture. In the team, the children have to agree on the solution that seems best suited to point out the object or picture they are looking for.

The respective team names the term.

The other teams (children) have to guess which object/picture is meant.

Tips
This exercise is suitable as preparation for the game "Memory" (5), especially if it is played with the same material. The ability to remember increases noticeably!
