The aim of this exercise is to improve

  • the ability to concentrate

  • communicative behaviour

  • vocabulary

This game trains the breaking of associative thinking, promotes the ability to react and improves group dynamics.

Instructions

For this exercise, you need the letters of a word or the alphabet.

The children sit in a circle or on their seats. The game is played in turns. Each child names a word (either the first or the opposite).

The teacher writes a word on the board as an example, with the letters of which this exercise is introduced, such as:

SNACK

Teacher:
Imagine a term for each letter. This may or may not be a noun. It can be any kind of word. The most important thing is that the next word that is named has as little connection as possible with the previous one.

If the first word is "Jänner" (January), "Jacke" (jacket) is the obvious second word because it could fit the content. However, it should be thought of in a completely unrelated way, such as "yodelling".

Now the first child begins, e.g. with "apple".

For the second child, "pineapple" is the obvious second word because it is also a fruit, but "anchor", for example, would be incoherent.

If a child cannot think of a word, the next one comes up.

Variations

As a pair exercise, the children take turns naming the terms. If a child cannot think of a word, the next letter is used.

Tips
The longer the words, the more fun the game becomes.
