Goal of this exercise is improving

  • the accuracy of articulation

  • Concentration

The over-clear articulation trains the mouth muscles and brings the physical condition for clear speaking.

Instructions

Together the group pronounces exaggeratedly clear tongue twisters. Start slowly, after repeating several times the speed can be increased.

Teacher:

Every vowel and every single consonant must be spoken precisely,

e.g.:

  • "How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood." or

  • "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers; A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked; If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?",

  • "Can you can a can as a canner can can a can?"

  • "Give papa a cup of proper coffe in a copper coffe cup."

  • "A loyal warrior will rarely worry why we rule."

  • She sells seashells on the seashore. The shells she sells are seashells, I’m sure. And if she sells seashells on the seashore,Then I’m sure she sells seashore shells.

You have to try very hard and be 100% committed for these speech exercises to have an effect.

Variations

If you increase the speed during the multiple repetitions of a tongue twister, the exercise remains challenging.
